He is seeking second term from the constituency. The broadcaster turned politician, Bukhari had joined PDP in 2003 and was elected to Legislative Council in 2004 before contesting the elections from Sangrama in 2008. He filed his nomination papers before Returning Officer camping in University Campus Delina.According to a statement issued to KNS Accompanied by thousands of his supporters in scores of vehicles, he arrived in the campus amid sloganeering and jubilation. Speaking to his supporters he said that he was confident that his electorate would repose faith in him second time and he will emerge victorious. "I am going to people with my performance as MLA as also the party's policy and programme". "My voters are the best judge of my performance" he said adding that they had faith in him. Bukhari said that people were fed up with the six years rule of NC-Congress as that was the worst period of governance. "We saw the innocents falling to the bullents and no accountability for those responsible for that" he said.

Later addressing a series of meeting in Kandi area he asked people to see for themselves as to how the NC-Congress government failed them in six years. Stating that corruption had reached a new level, he said people were crushed under the partisan governance. "The only solution to today's problems in Kashmir is to bring back Mufti Mohammad Sayeed with a decisive and unshakable mandate" he said amides thunderous applause from his supporters. "Only Mufti Saheb can steer this through as he is a statesman and visionary". Bukhari said that PDP wave had created a euphoria across Kashmir and that why a sitting Chief Minister ran away from his constituency.

Stating that PDP was poised to come into power, he said this time the party should get full support of people then only we can realize the dream Mufti Saheb has for a new Kashmir. Recalling the efforts of PDP led coalition from 2003 to 2005 he said that had dawned as an era of hope, peace and reconciliation for people of Jammu and Kashmir. "Mufti Saheb wanted to see that walls of hatred are down and it happened" he said adding that the Srinagar-Muzaffarabad bus service could be started after 60 years only due to perseverance of Mufti Saheb.

He said that people not only need good roads, uninterrupted power supply, quality education and other amenities but also that want to live with dignity and honor. "That is what the PDP rule could make possible in short time and people still cannot forget that era of hope and realization" he said. He assured his electorate that he would bring Sangrama on a new map of development and do much more while the PDP would be in power. (KNS)
