The Calcutta High Court Tuesday directed the city police chief to hold a meeting with state BJP leaders and inform the court about his decision regarding the proposed rally of party president Amit Shah Nov 30.Denied permission to hold the rally at Victoria House, where the ruling Trinamool Congress usually organises its annual Martyrs' Day rally, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) state unit moved the court of Justice Debangshu Basak alleging discrimination by the city police."The court today (Tuesday) directed the city police commissioner to hold a meeting Thursday with BJP representatives who have been writing to him seeking permission for the rally since last few months," BJP counsel Kaushik Chanda said."The police chief has also been directed to inform the court in writing by Friday about his decision regarding the Nov 30 meeting," he said.On Nov 30, christened 'Uththan Diwas' (Day of Rising), Shah was scheduled to sound the poll bugle for the 2015 Kolkata Municipal Corporation election and the 2016 assembly polls from the Esplanade area.
