The Punjab Rural Development and Panchayat Minister Surjit Singh Rakhra today said that the state government was contemplating to install Solar Water Purifiers in the villages of Punjab for ensuring potable drinking water to each household. Presiding over a meeting with the delegation of Aqua Infinitum GmbH and senior officials of the department, Rakhra said that the state government would analyse the complete functioning of such Solar RO system installed at Saila Khurd village. He said that after report of the experts the state government would chalk out a program to install these solar ROs in the state. Speaking on the occasion, Chief Executive Officer of the company Mrs. Jennifer Beresford apprised the Minister about the functioning of Solar Water Purifier installed at village Saila Khurad in Hoshisarpur. He informed the minister that the Reverse Osmosis (R.O) installed by the company can purify any type of water and make useable for different purposes. She said that such solar based ROs would prove to be a boon for the areas facing threat of deadly diseases like cancer and hepatitis. Making a presentation regarding the functioning of such Solar based ROs, Mrs. Jennifer informed that this plant has the capacity to purify 1200 liter of water in an hour with an estimated cost of 5 paise per litre. She said that such plants have an average 25 years of life.
