Sangrur MP, Vijay Inder Singla today flagged off the New Delhi-Ludhiana-New Delhi Shatabdi Express Train at the Sangrur Railway station amid jubilation. This train will now run daily instead of a limited frequency earlier.Singla said that ‘connectivity’ being a key criterion for development he has taken special interest during his MP tenure to get railway infrastructure upgraded in this backward region besides up gradation of roads and bridges. Elaborating the railway infrastructure strengthened in Sangrur and Barnala districts in the last few years, Sangrur MP cited introduction of new trains which have given people of Sangrur direct rail connectivity to Hazoor Saheb, Ajmer and Sirsa through his efforts. “This Shatabdi train which will now run on a daily basis and is a gift from UPA for Sangrur and nearby areas and is an effort to link Sangrur with other major cities of neighboring states and within Punjab; it would boost movement of people. Also it will especially help the business community” Singla added. He stated that train has very convenient timings and will reach Sangrur (from Delhi) at 10.56 am and depart Sangrur (for Delhi) at 5.50 pm every day.
He stated that Sangrur area has been neglected in the past but his efforts in the Parliament have bore fruit and he has been able to get many other important initiatives like extension and Increase in frequency of existing services, new rail stoppages of existing trains, new Rail linkages, line doubling, construction of Railway over/under Bridges, manning of Level Crossings, Passenger Reservation Centers, Modernization and up-gradations of railway stations, foot over bridges etc. and will continue to strive for more such development projects in the future also.
