Minister for R&B Abdul Majid Wani Sunday held a number of public meetings at Jatheli, Dongru, Mohalla, Gulmuna and Bhattal in Doda constituency.Wani was given warm welcome by the local people, prominent among them the leading social activist Hakim Manzur who recently joined congress party and senior congress party activists including Gh. Mohd. Sheikh, Bhagat Jagat Ram, Hakiim Singh, Bhagat Dhani Ram and prominent youth leader of Doda district Shakti Wazir. People were highly appreciative about last two tenures of Abdul Majid Wani as their elected representative. And, they assured full support for him in these assembly elections. Various speakers said that it was only because of sincere efforts put in by Abdul Majid Wani as their MLA since year 2002 that people from different caste, creed and religion had been living with peace and full communal harmony in whole Doda constituency.
Even, during year 2008 Amarnath row, when whole state was burning with communal violence; people of Doda, showing real example of communal harmony, remained peaceful in that critical period and not even a single case of communal violence was reported in whole Doda constituency. Giving details of achievements as MLA Doda since year 2002, Majid Wani asked people to elect him to the assembly corridors so that people see a new era of development and prosperity when all under construction/ under pipeline dream projects are got completed in near future. During last one decade, because of his performance as well as right projection of needs and demands of people of Doda, people of Doda constituency could witness remarkable achievements with drastic increase in literacy rate, road connectivity and other civic infrastructural facilities like creation of a new district, tehsils, niabats, blocks, sanctioning of Medical college, new district hospital building, trauma hospitals, new health centres, sports infrastructure, a good number of major water supply scheme projects and sanctioning of Chenani Sudh Mahadev Doda Capran as an alternative national highway.
Majid Wani further assured people to take serious measures, in near future, to unleash vast employment opportunities, establish industrial centres upto tehsil level with setting up of few heavy industries in Doda constituency, creation of large scale tourism infrastructure, improving power infrastructure and regularisation of daily wagers. And, also, he promised to ensure that at least one member of each family in Doda constituency is provided with a suitable employment opportunity so as to curb the menace of unemployment as well as poverty, especially in rural areas of Doda, from its roots.Regarding local demands for construction of new road projects in block Mohalla viz Mohalla Khankoot, Kareli Persholla, Seri Morh Breswana and Mohalla Barshalla roads, Majid Wani informed them that these projects are already under pipeline and work on the same shall be taken into hand very shortly within 4-5 months.
