Head of Dar-ul-Khair and Hurriyat Conference (M) chairman Mirwaiz Umar Farooq Wednesday convened an extraordinary meeting of Dar-ul-Khair Mirwaiz Manzil.During the meeting, participants took stock of the efforts undertaken by the Dar-ul-Khair to provide and relief and rehabilitation to the flood victims in the aftermath of destructive floods that wrecked havoc across Srinagar and Kashmir.

Announcing that Dar-ul-Khair in the process of implementing its programme under the “AKH Akis” initiative to build 100 houses for the flood victims severely affected by the inundation, the participants in the meeting stated that a team has been formed under the supervision of Imam Hai Jamia Masjid, Moulana Syed Ahmad Naqashbandi who would take the assessment of damages due to floods across the valley. The meeting further stated that the Dar-ul-Khair team members led by Naqashbandi would tour across various districts of Kashmir and would contact the local Masjid Committees and Imams to help them identifying genuine victims who are economically downtrodden and are urgently need their houses to be rebuilt under the reconstruction programme.

The meeting categorically stated that houses would be built for only those persons who are economically weak and could not afford to build their houses without the external help.During the meeting, the participants also constituted a team of expert engineers and craftsmen who would carry out the rebuilding programme under the “Akh Akis” intiative.The participants stated that to implement the housing plan successfully, Mirwaiz has met many respectables of the society who believe in charity and have shown magnanimity after learning the details of house construction programme for the needy and poor. Despite engagements, Mirwaiz visited Lal Bazaar,Hawal and adjoining areas to raise awareness and seek monitory help for the programme. They stated that Mirwaiz would continue with his visits to different areas keeping in view the urgent need to implement the programme.

Terming the contribution of people, irrespective of their social status, towards “Akh Akis” initiative as extremely gratifying, the participants stated the brave people of Kashmir were coming forward and lending their hand to help Dar-ul-Khair to provide succor to their brethren in need. Paying tributes for extending a helping hand, the participants stated the way Kashmiris through Dar-ul-Khair have played their part in relief and rehabilitation of flood victims, it was highly commendable and praiseworthy.The meeting stated that Mirwaiz would personally monitor the “Akh Akis” programme and would make it sure that it should be transparently run, adding, APHC Chairman would also seek regular details to ascertain whether the housing programme is running effectively and successfully.

Stressing that rebuilding programme demands whooping amounts, the participants also appealed the conscious Kashmiris to come forward and contribute towards Dar-ul-Khair so the programme runs successfully and fellow Kashmiris are extricated from the hardships imposed by the flood catastrophe.
