CM Himachal Virbhadra singh Showed his concern over the non seriousness regarding the Rogi kalian smitis in Government health institutions. Speaking at Tanda Medical College Singh said, “ It is disheartening that not even a single meeting of the Rogi Kalyan Samiti (RKS) has been held since from last one and a half year even after the notification to this regard was issued .” Chief Minister Sh Virbhadra Singh was speaking at the Annual day function of Doctor Rajinder Prasad Government Medical College and Hospital, (RPGMC) Tanda at Kangra on Monday evening.“I order that the meeting of the RKS be held within a week from today and in future too I want regular meetings of the RKS no matter what the circumstances are,” he added . He said that disciplinary action would be initiated against those, who in future, look for the reasons to delay or postpone the meetings. “The worst sufferers are the people of the State due to the lackluster approach of the department concerned,” he said.
Referring to the delay in construction of the two hostels (one each for boys and girls) for the PG students who were facing hardship due to delay in the construction of the same, the Chief Minister ordered that the construction of the hostels may be handed over to the PWD which besides ensuring quality will also ensure the timely construction of the hostels to facilitate the children studying in the institution. Regarding maintenance of the buildings in campus of the RPGMC, the Chief Minister said that the Junior Engineers of IPH, PWD and Electricity would be appointed who will work under a single pision which will look after the maintenance works.The Chief Minister assured to look into the matter regarding providing one seat in MBBS to the family members of the persons whose land was taken over by the Government for construction of the institution.
Recalling the past history pertaining to the establishing of the Tanda Medical College and hospital, the Chief Minister said that 95 percent work of the college, right from selecting the land and constructing the campus was done in successive congress Governments. Hinting out at the propaganda of the previous Government, he said that “ It is wrong to take the credit of the works done by others”.Hitting out the preveous BJP governments CM said , “The people who do nothing and try to take the credit by changing the name plates of development works is disastrous for the State as well the coming generations. “ “I am pleased to know that the Tanda Medical college was ranked first amongst the State Governments Medical colleges in North India and 14th amongst all Government run medical colleges in the country besides being placed at 24th position in All India Medical Colleges in the Country in 2014”, said Chief Minister, adding that he congratulates the college faculty and the students for retaining first position in North India.
“I have learnt that the college was acknowledged by the department of Health Research, GoI to initiate and promote research activities in rural medical colleges in the Country which has brought a big name for Himachal Pradesh and the college as well” he said. It also gives me immense pleasure to learn that RPGMC, Tanda is the first institute in North India after PGI Chandigarh to Start WHO fellowship, said he.
“ I am indebted to the former Union Health Minister Sh Gulam Nabi Azad for making it a super specialty hospital but the machinery and equipment required and was sanctioned for the college and the hospital was still awaited. “ I will pursue the matter with the Union Health Minister and if need be with the Prime Minister for providing the sanctioned machinery and equipment without delay so that the people of the State could have specialized health care services”, he said. The Chief Minister said that the Government was opening three more medical colleges in the State in Chamba, Sirmaur and Hamirpur for which there was a provision of Rs 567 crore by GoI.
