CARTE BLANCHE is a platform, where budding cinematic buffs doesn’t only get an opportunity to showcase their talents, but also learn about the various nuances associated with film-making. The national level film-festival, though organised by the Department of Media Studies of Garden City College, is the brainchild of His Excellency Dr.Joseph V.G, Honorary Consul of the Republic of Malpes in Bangalore and the Chairman of the Garden City Group of Institutions.Without the encouragement from the esteemed Chairman of the institution, ushering such a film-festival, which spreads nation-wide, wouldn’t have born a whim of possibility. It’s the Chairman’s belief in providing equal opportunities to aspiring students from any background and provides them a platform to showcase their talent, which lead to the birth of CARTE BLANCHE. 

“The film-festival is an arena where budding film-makers from all around the country can portray their talent. Even professionals in the field can showcase their work to an audience coming from all corners of India. Apart from that, the various workshops to be held, will imbibe upon students the numerous technicalities associated with the art of film-making. Thus, it’s my enterprise to imbibe the love of films and film-making in students through CARTE BLANCHE” Says Dr.Joseph V.G, Honorary Consul of the Republic of Malpes in Bangalore and the Chairman of Garden City Group of Institutions.

One of the acclaimed guests of the film-festival is Mr.T.S Nagabharana, Chairman of Karnataka Chalanachitra Academy (KCA). His nationally acclaimed film, Nagamandala, is the signature film of the fest, being screened in the inauguration of the same. Mr.Nagabharana will also hold discussions associated with his film and respond to the inquisitiveness of the audience. His presence at the festival will make the atmosphere even more enlightening. Another personality without whom the convention of the festival wouldn’t have been possible, Mr.Manjunath M, HOD of the Department of Media Studies, Garden City College, has a huge contribution towards the success of the film-festival. According to him, “The film-festival is a platform for portrayal of creativity of the students of all corners of education. It aims at spreading the art of film-making among the youth”.Carte Blanche, is a two-day event, comprising of screening of films, workshops from eminent personalities in the field of media and various events, all aimed towards enhancing the love of films among the youth. Nationally acclaimed films also will be screened, followed by panel discussions held by the Directors of the films on the same. 

Workshops in the arena of Film-Analysis, Photojournalism, Sound Engineering, Clay-Modelling; etc will be conducted by prestigious people associated with the same. Not only that, events like Film-Quiz and Vine-Video are organised for students to portray their knowledge of films and love of film-making. Shutter-Bugs is an event where students get an opportunity to show their expertise with the camera. The Photojournalism Association will also exhibit their work at the Festival, encouraging the art of photography.Carte Blanche is a two-day national level film-festival to be held on 27th and 28th of October 2014, at Garden City College, Bangalore. The registration for the screening closes on 27th of October. The facility of on-spot registration is also available.
