Terming the ‘callous and delaying tactics’ of the State Government and Government of India in addressing the enormous problems faced by the flood hit people of Kashmir and their rehabilitation as ‘crude politicization’ of a human tragedy and miseries of the people, Hurriyat Conference (M) Mirwaiz Umar Farooq today alleged that instead of taking any substantial steps to address the issue of flood victims, the rulers in New Delhi were busy in advancing their own vested political interests.Commenting on the proposed visit of Prime Minister Narendra Modi to Kashmir, Mirwaiz in a statement said, “Theatrics of false mourning and tears were a hallow show of sympathy over the hardships faced by the flood hit Kashmiris.”

Stating that people were immensely suffering due to ravaging floods since past two months, they were rendered homeless, and had nothing to left to fend their families, “GoI took hardly any steps to provide effective relief and rehabilitation to flood victims while on the other hand it is not allowing any aid by international community or any aid organization to help rebuild and provide succor to flood affected Kashmiris.”Mirwaiz said that the way national media was busy in blowing Modi’s Kashmir visit on Diwali out of  proportions clearly indicate that the visit is more a publicity stunt than the intent of real help to flood hit Kashmiries and amounts to building castles of electoral politics over the ruins and rubble of Kashmir.

The Hurriyat (M) chairman said that instead of adopting such tactics it would be better for the leadership of India to accept that Kashmir dispute was a reality which needs to be resolved according to the wishes and aspirations of the people of Jammu and Kashmir. “It was also a stark reality that even though the flood has damaged Kashmir but it has not dampened their resolve to fight for their right to self determination,” he said.Meanwhile, continuing with his visits to flood hit areas, Mirwaiz today visited Pampora, kadlebal, Namble Bal, Frast-e-Bal, Drang Bal and adjoining areas  of Pampore and Pulwama to take stock of the damages caused by the ravaging floods. While distributing the relief material among the flood victims on behalf of Dar-ul-Khair, Mirwaiz consoled with the flood victims who have incurred irretrievable damage.

Expressing solidarity and sympathy with the affected families, Mirwaiz regretted the absence of government in these areas to provide relief and rehabilitation to people. He stated that lakhs of people have been left on the mercy of Allah and government was just doing cheap politics over the tragedies of people for their ulterior political motives.Meanwhile, Mirwaiz paid glorious tributes to the Bijbehra martyrs on their 21st martyrdom anniversary.
