The temporary make shift of Srinagar’s lower court to other areas is affecting commoners to knock the doors of law and justice with the lawyers maintaining that their work too got hampered due to shifting from Srinagar’s central place.According to the KNS correspondent, several lawyers stated that the make shift arrangements has made their clients to suffer at large as the inaccessible route for the commoners is hindering them from approaching the court of law. Also, the vendors and other shopkeepers also stated that the business they used to get due to the rush of people at the court road of Srinagar is down with the huge margin. They maintained that after floods as the authorities decided to shift the lower court from Lal Chowk to Tatoo ground area. “We were doing a god business around the area as this street is known as court road. Our business is related to the functioning of the court. Floods didn’t hamper our business as much as the shifting of court did,” said one of the shopkeepers of the area.
Meanwhile, lawyers also stressed that the number of their clients has been descended to large extent as the commoners usually feel reluctant in approaching the make shift office.Lawyers Club Kashmir led by Advocate Babur Qadri said the shifting of the court would not only affect the commoners and people who seek justice but will also pinch the functioning of the Bar Association of Kashmir. “Bar is the voice of the people. Its office at Srinagar’s lower court merited greater significance as same was located at the Historic Lal Chowk. Now when the court is shifted to any far off place, Bar would cease to exist.” (KNS)
