G.S.Bali Himachal Pradesh Transport Minister, who is also Minister Incharge of Technical Education has effectively raised the issue of setting up of Hydro Engineering College at Bilaspur in Himachal Pradesh with Piyush Goyal, Union Minister of State for Energy and Coal in a high powered meeting held here in New Delhi today to discuss the matter. The Senior Officers of NTPC and NHPC also participated in this meeting. G.S. Bali apprised the Union Minister that this Hydro Engineering College was to be set up in a joint venture with NHPC, NTPC and Himachal Govt. for which MOUs have already been signed up with NTPC and NHPC.
Piyush Goyal directed the Senior Officers of the Ministry concern to constitute a Project Monitoring Committee to setup this ambitious Hydro Engineering College first of its kind in the Country. He also directed that this committee should have senior members of NHPC, NTPC and HP Govt.and also requested Mr. G.S. Bali to make available land for setting up this college in a stipulated manner. Sh. G.S. Bali assured the Minister that land would be made available for this engineering college soon and also requested the Minister to adopt one more engineering college particularly being constructed at Nagrota Bagwan in Kangra Distt. under the CSR activities of NHPC and NTPC.
Mukesh, Joint Secretary, Hydro Power Ministry told that efforts would be made to set up this college as soon as possible with intake capacity of 300 students and best possible engineering facilities would be made available in this college. Mr. U.P.Pani Director (HR), NTPC and Mr. Bhargav, Director (Technical) NHPC also participated in the meeting.
