State Vice President National Conference Rattan Lal Gupta on Tuesday hailed the initiatives taken by Omar led government with regard to border dwellers and flood sufferers, saying their rehabilitation and welfare deserves top priority in view of the ensuing winter.

 In a statement, Gupta lauded Chief Minister Omar Abdullah for taking personal interest in ensuring relief and safe lodging of the border residents who have suffered due to unprovoked shelling for the past few days. He said plots for safe lodging of the border families are imperative to ensure their safety during eventualities of shelling and firing from across the border.

The State Vice President said peace is imperative for development and prosperity of the sub-continent and hoped that the neighbouring country will shun hostility on borders that keep vitiating the atmosphere. He appreciated the valour of people living alongside International Border and Line of Control for braving the brunt and said the people of entire state share their miseries.Gupta said National Conference has always identified itself with the suffering people, be it natural calamities or border hostilities, and strived for providing them all necessary assistance to meet the challenge. The State Vice President urged the party workers to continue their assistance to the people in.
