All J&K Shikara Workers Union Ghat No1 Dalgate Tuesday staged a protest in Press Enclave Srinagar. They appealed the authorities to compensate their losses including damages to Shikaras during rescue operations in the last month of floods. The president AJKSWU Ghat No 1 Ghulam Ahmad Kolu told CNS that,”Our people were busy to rescue the trapped people in the floods. We provided more than 600 Shikara and skilled people while all the boats were damaged.” “We are hardly able to manage two square meals a day,” he said. The union appealed the District Development Commissioner to look into the matter on priority. (CNS)
