Punjab Chief Secretary, Sarvesh Kaushal today reviewed the measures to be taken to ensure cleanliness in Punjab Government Offices; besides doing away with obsolete record gathering dust in almirahs of record sections of various sections in secretariat. The meeting was organised to carry out Swachh Bharat Mission in all offices of Punjab Civil Secretariat and take this message to all Government offices in the state.Chief Secretary today reviewed the measures in a high level meeting with Financial Commissioner (Revenue) Mr N S Kang and Principal Secretary (Home) Mr Jagpal Singh Sandhu, Mr. C Roul ,Principal Secretary Governance Reforms, Special Secretary (Personnel) Mrs Gurpreet Sapra and Ms. Ritu Agarwal, Special Secretary General Administration  and  issued instructions to all departments for weeding out of old records as per the existing manual of instructions and introducing scientific method of record keeping.

The Chief Secretary said that dangling and loose electric wires despite renovation of various floors still exist as an eye sore and asked General Administration Department to take corrective measures immediately. He said that loose electric wires were the main cause of fire and it was imperative for all offices to get their electrical switches and fittings repaired at the earliest. He also issued instructions to ensure that there was no overload on any electrical point resulting in short circuit. He asked for thorough check of all Government offices in the State by incharge officers.

He said that old obsolete  files, broken furniture and dumps of waste building material in various corners has to be taken care of immediately. He appealed all the Administrative Secretaries to issue instructions to all officers under their jurisdiction to improve their work place and to organise functional files with proper filing system. He asked general administration department to clear all entry and exit routes which were bring blocked by broken furniture in different floors of Punjab Civil Secretariat and clean up window panes and record shelves. He asked the GAD to issue instructions to all departments to clear all exit routes immediately. He ordered that old records should be ‘Vacuum Cleaned” so that dust should not cause health problems to employees.
