While felicitating people on the eve of Eid-ul-Adha, Chairman Hurriyat Conference (G) Syed Ali Geelani said that the literal meaning of Eid although is joy and happiness but this time the Eid is being celebrated at a time when due to the destructive floods our whole nation is facing numerous problems and lakhs of our brethren are forced to their life under the open sky.While appealing the people to celebrate the Eid-ul-Adha with simplicity, austerity and with Islamic eminence, he said that each type of alms, charity, donations and Skin (Khaal) of sacrificial animals should be kept and appropriated for the flood victims. Geelani sahib not doing well with his health will offer Eid prayers at Hyderpora Jamia Masjid. In a statement issued to the press, Geelani sahib instructed people to seek forgiveness of Almighty Allah in the Eid prayers and pray for his mercy so that we will come out from this terrible situation. Hurriyat chairman said that the Eid-ul-Adha remembers us the patience, loyalty and steadfastness of the great Prophet of Allah, Ibrahim (Peace be upon him). Our nation too should not lose hope and we should trust the Almighty Allah and we should be prepared for every kind of situation. Meanwhile on the direction of Geelani sahib, chairman Central Relief Committee Peer Saifullah formed many relief teams for different areas.
A team led by Altaf Ahmad Shah which also comprises of district president Kulgam Mohammad Shaban Dar and other district officials was sent to the many areas of the district, another team led by Mohammad Yousuf Mujahid which also include Naseem Zaffar Geelani, Mohammad Maqbool Chadoora, district president Pulwama Ghulam Mohi-ud-din Andrabi and other district officials were sent to Panjgam Pulwama and another team under the supervision of Syed Imtiyaz Hyder went to Chukpora Kenihama where they distributed ration and other relief material amoung the flood affected people and expressed sympathy with them. While as a team led by district president Islamabad Mir Hafizullah went to Kotalwala Mohalla, Iqbal Market, Anchidora, Qazibagh, old KMD bus stand, Naibasti, Shangus, Sheergund Shangus areas of Islamabad district where they distributed 25 Kg of rice and other relief material amoung the affected families. On the directions of Geelani sahib, chairman Central Relief Committee Peer Saifullah went to the press colony and held a meeting with the press related persons and distributed blankets and ration amoung the affected persons and also expressed sympathy with them.
Meanwhile, Geelani expressed his deep sorrow and grief over the fire incident at Lakhriyar Nawakadal which consumed 10 residential houses. He said that due to the recent floods, we have huge number of people living under the open sky and now these ten families have also been rendered homeless by the devasting fire. Geelani sahib sent a team led by Tehreek-e-Hurriyat general secretary Muhammad Ashruf Sehrai which also comprises of district president Raja Mehraj-ud-din to the people affected by the fire. They distributed bedding, blankets, rice and other eatables among the affected families of Nawakadal and expressed sympathy with them. (KNS)
