Nawang Rigzin Jora, the Hon'ble Minister for Urban Development and Urban Local Bodies, today undertook extensive visit of Srinagar city in particular to the areas Batamaloo, Bemina, Qamerwari, Parimpora, Safa Kadal, Eidgah and land fill site at Syed Pora Achen. He had interactions with the field staff of SMC who are busy in city cleaning on war footing. During the visit, he enquired from the public about sanitation process. Mr. Jora had a surprise visit to land fill cells, weighing bridge, leachate plant. He was briefed by the engineers of ERA/SMC that on an average, 2000 metric tones of garbage at this land fill site on daily basis is processed and scientifically disposed off.
In the area properly fenced leachate plantof the capacity of 30,000 ltrs. per day is functional.Jora also interacted with the technicians operating leachate plant. He was satisfied with the working of ERA and SMC for maintaining land fill site. He was informed that 21918 metric tones of garbage has been lifted and disposed off from 11-09-2014 to 30-09-2014.
