Terming the local resources available as too meagerto deal with wide spread destruction and damage inflicted to economic infrastructure in the state by the ravaging floods, APHC ChairmanMirwaiz Umar Farooq Tuesday stated that international aid should be allowed to provide succor to people and help rebuild the damaged infrastructure and residential houses. While visiting the flood hit people at lal Chowk, Abi Guzar Nowgam, Kanehama and other places, Mirwaiz expressed his complete solidarity with the affected people. He also offered his heartfelt condolence for the loss of the lives and property of people.While distributing relief material among the victims in these areas,Mirwaiz stressed upon people to show united face in view of the floodcatastrophe. He stated that people should help each other for rebuilding Kashmir since everybody has been affected in Kashmir due to floods in one way or the other.During the visit, Mirwaiz met Lal Chowk traders federation delegation who apprised him about the damaged caused by the floods. They stated that not a single government official has visited them to assess the scale of damage to their businesses caused by floods.Expressing his solidarity and sympathy with the traders, Mirwaiz stated that it was highly unfortunate that government has remained insensitive to restore the business activities in lal chowk by dewatering the markets and compensating the affected people. He statedthat such callousness was an naked truth reflecting the anti-people policy adopted by the government. (KNS)
