Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal today urged the Union Railways Minister Mukul Roy to immediately run three special trains from Amritsar, Ambala and Bareilly to Bidar for facilitating lacs of devotees who intend to visit Gurdwara Sri Nanak Jhira Sahib Bidar (Karnataka) on the celebrations of 500 years of Nanak Jhira Pragat Samagam from April 26 to 29, 2012. In a letter to Mr. Roy, the Chief Minister impressed upon him to immediately direct the Ministry of Railways to run three special trains on this historic occasion keeping in view the religious sentiments of the people especially the Sikh community from across the country. Mr. Badal also requested Mr. Roy to direct the Ministry of Railways to immediately extend the Amritsar-Nanded Sachkhand Express to Bidar besides sanctioning new direct railway line to connect Nanded and Bidar via Degloor. He pointed out that at present the pilgrims desirous of visiting Bidar from Nanded had to travel on a circuitous route covering a distance of nearly 300 KMs. The Chief Minister sought Mr. Roy’s personal intervention for the construction of new direct railway line from Nanded to Bidar via Degloor which was just 130 KMs. He hoped that the new railway line would not only shorten the distance between Nanded and Bidar but also offer a comfortable journey to the devotees thereby saving lot of their time, money and energy. Mr. Badal urged the Union Railways Minister to concede both these demands of Sikh Sangat forthwith, who demanded him to take up these issues with Ministry of Railways when he recently visited the Gurdwara Sri Nanak Jhira Sahib at Bidar to pay obeisance.…
