Congress Deputy Leader in the Lok Sabha Capt Amarinder Singh has supported the demand of 120 students of the Chintpurni Medical College, Pathankot for migration to some other college. He said, the career of 120 students was at stake and they were suffering for none of their faults. The Congress leader appealed to the government to take a compassionate view of their case as it concerned their career. He said, the students got admission in 2011 after they were told that the college had got provisional approval from the Medical Council of India which would be confirmed in due course of time.Capt Amarinder said, since the MCI has not given further approval to the college, the students have been left in lurch and they have not taken any exams after 2012. He hoped that the Punjab government and the Baba Farid University of Health Sciences will take rational view of the case so that the career of the students can be saved.
