Senior Congress leader and MLA Inderwal, G M Saroori today expressed profound sorrow, grief and solidarity over the sad demises of Hajra Begum mother of Asif Ahmed Sirwal and his two daughters from Kishtwar who died yesterday in a flood affected area at Srinagar.In a message of condolence, Saroori conveyed his heartfelt condolence to the bereaved family members and prayed to Almighty Allah for grant them strength to withstand the immense loss. He prayed to the Almighty Allah for blessing peace to the departed souls beside a place for them in a heaven. He remembered the Hajra Begum as a noble woman who lived a pious life. It is pertinent to mention here that government had sanctioned Rs 2 lakhs for the kin of the each of the deceased.

Saroori who is in continuous contact with District Administrations of twin districts of Kishtwar and Doda and also with party leaders who are in the area today briefed him (Saroori) about the situation. He was told that many bridges in Sub-pision Chatroo are damaged, more than 50 houses have been damaged, many roads are blocked due to landslides including Kishtwar-Sinthan National highway, Thathri-Bunjwah  road in kilometer 8th, hundreds of acres of standing crops in Keshwan, Sarawan, Thakrie, Chatroo, Chingam, Mugalmaidan, Drabshalla, Saroor, Bunjwah, Khara, Bhalessa, Thathri and other parts have been completely damaged due to the devastating rainfall and floods.

Saroori today telephonically contacted DDC Kishtwar Mr. Mohd Javed Khan and DDC Doda Mr. Shyam Vinod Meena and informed them that massive damages have caused to the houses, crops, livestock's and the public property in the area. He said as Union government had already announced Rs 1100 crores funds under SDRF and additional of Rs 1,000 crores to the State for flood relief and rehabilitation. He urge administration for immediate survey and for issuing necessary instructions to all concerned departments for assessing the damages caused due to incessant rains and floods so that necessary relief, respite or compensation be provided to the sufferers and infrastructure be restored.

In a message to people of erstwhile Doda district, Saroori said he is trying his level best for rescuing the dozen stranded people from chenab valley region including Kishtwar (Inderwal), Doda and Ramban who are trapped in Rajbagh, Sonwar, Googie bagh, Bemina, Hyder Pura, Lal Chowk, MLA Hostel Srinagar and other parts of Kashmir valley. He has already contacted Army, civil administration and Disaster Response Force (NDRF) for rescuing these stranded peoples from Chenab Valley in the Kashmir. Saroori however demanded that authorities should pay their more attention towards rescuing the stranded people and provide basic amenities to the flood hit victims on war footing bases.. He has also lauded the role of Army, IAF who with coordination of civil administration has rescued 22,000 people so far in the flood-hit areas.
