Expressing serious concern over the failure of civil administration in extending relief and restoration measures to the flood victims, Syed Altaf Bukhari, PDP senior leader and party candidate for Amirakadal constituency has urged the government to provide de-watering pumps and rescue boats to the people in swamped areas of Srinagar especially in Amirakadal constituency without further delay.According to a statement issued to KNS, Bukhari who along with the senior party leaders including Abdul Hameed Kosheen, Haji Parvez Ahmad, Mohammad Altaf Dar visited the inundated areas of Amirakadal constituency including Zero Bridge, Aramwari, Iqbal Colony, Kanlipora, Khwajabagh, Kursoo Rajbagh, Mehjoor Nagar, Shikeh Mohalla Mehjoor Nagar, Barzulla, Rambagh, Natipora, Baghat and Bulbulbagh met the flood victims and assured them all possible help in this hour of crisis.

The locals in these areas also informed Bukhari that no officer or any official from civil administration was seen anywhere in the flood hit areas to provide succor to the victims of water logging. The PDP leader demanded dewatering pumps and rescue boats for the inundated residential areas in Amirakadal constituency without any further delay. He said the critical care Bone and Joints Hospital needs to be dewatered as the floods have hampered the movement of patients in and around the hospital. While hailing the help extended by police force to the flood affected people in Amirakadal constituency,Bukhari rued the administrative inertia saying that the civil administration did not seem to be serious in providing aid to the victims of floods.  He said that the areas he visited are facing shortage of ration, fuel and safe drinking water. Bukhari urged the administration to ensure supply of ration, fuel and medicines in these areas without any delay. “The government which is otherwise always napping must at least act in this hour of natural calamity. People are craving for help and nobody in the government seems bothered to address their difficulties,” Bukhari said, while stressing for immediate relief and restoration measures.
