Slum dwellers reason of infections and crimes to numerous people in a number of areas of the city. These dwellers make temporary stays at many areas like Bemina, Parimpora, HMT, Narbal etc of Srinagar city are making the daily routine life of people full of bad health, diseases and hurdles. These dwellers visit valley from various states for so called vendor business and intrude the lands of their choices.
One of the locals from Bemina said these not only raise infections to the people but they even do many illegal things like prostitution and use of alcoholic products.
“I myself tried to convey the concern authorities for numerous times so that these dwellers would leave this area of the city but the result of my application and requests were treated as good for nothing,” a resident Javid Abdullah from HMT Srinagar said.“These people always en-crouch the land beside roads so that they can keep an eye on the people coming and going. Because of these slum dwellers there is an increase in thefts and eve teasing at our area as they directly visit homes by making excuses like selling of medicines, collecting of toured clothes and selling of toys etc”, a resident bashir khan from boat colony Bemina said.
“There should be a keen seek on them by the police of the state so that they can’t make such efforts but the fact of the matter is that the police of the state ignore their presence which definitely creates problems in the survival of the residents,” he added.He further said that the continue visits of these slum dweller groups to the valley can badly effect in the coming future and there visit should be taken seriously by the concern departments so that they can’t visit for future.
