The Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) today said Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) chief Arvind Kejriwal was suffering from a malady of bankruptcy of ideas and had fallen to rabble rousing, the worst fall back of a failed politician, to save his party from extinction in Punjab.In a statement here, SAD general secretary and core committee member Maheshinder Singh Grewal said the AAP leader was practicing deceitful behaviour by voicing the same allegations against Punjab Revenue minister Bikram Singh Majithia which he had levelled a few months back during the run up to the parliamentary elections. “He is not even mindful of the fact that the allegations have been gone into by four different central agencies without any evidence emerging against Mr Majithia and also the fact that the honourable high court has dismissed petitions filed in this regard by Congress leaders”.Grewal said in case the AAP leader had any evidence against the Revenue minister he could have easily filed a petition in court. "What stopped him from doing this. He did not do this as he had nothing to reveal. The noises he is making now are a last ditch attempt to garner cheap publicity and save his party which has faced a severe erosion in people’s support in the last few months”, he added.
Urging the people of Punjab to evaluate the AAP leader’s short notorious stint in politics, Grewal said Kejriwal was known to be double faced. “He swore on his children’s heads that he would never ever seek the support of the Congress in the run up to the Delhi assembly elections but did just that in order to form the government. Similarly after shunning the responsibility given to him, he entered into an understanding with the Congress on the eve of the Lok Sabha elections to damage the prospects of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) led NDA alliance. It is strange that a person who was propped up by the Congress is now talking about ideals and propriety in politics”, he said adding “this is akin to the pot calling the kettle black”.The SAD leader said the recent statements of the AAP chief were also part of a larger policy to incite violence and extremism in Punjab. “How else can you explain Mr Kejriwal’s recent actions including shutting his eyes to the real facts in Majithia’s case and also encouraging breakdown of law and order in Punjab by refusing to take action against the perpetrators of the extremely provocative incident at Isru which has masterminded by the top Punjab AAP leadership”, he added.
Terming Kejriwal as a psychopath liar who was ready to disturb the hard won peace of Punjab by patronising former naxalites, Mr Grewal said the people of Punjab should examine the past of the rag tag motley of people who accompanied Kejriwal on his recent visit to Punjab. “People with a shady past including those intoxicated on drugs and drunkards shared political space with Kejriwal during his recent trip to Punjab. Instead of targeting Mr Bikram Majithia to get cheap publicity, Kejriwal should come clean with the past record of people associated with him in Punjab”, he added.
