Health and Family Welfare Minister Shri Kaul Singh Thakur today called on Union Health Minister, Shri Gulam Nabi Azad at New Delhi and urged him to increase the number of MBBS seats in Indira Gandhi Medical College, Shimla to 150 from existing 100. He said that this college was functioning since 1966 and the number of MBBS seats were fixed as 100 in the year 2010. He said that number of seats should be increased to 150 as per the norms fixed by Medical Council of India. 

Health Minister urged the Union Minister to increase the allocation of funds to the State under National Rural Health Mission to Rs. 220 crore from Rs. 153 crore. He requested the Central Government to bear the 90 percent of the expenditure under 108 National Ambulance Service and said that central assistance should be provided to the State on the analogy of Northern Eastern States for National Ambulance Service.
