Government of India Tuesday said that 523 ceasefire violations were reported from past three years along Line of Control in Jammu and Kashmir. Replying to a query raised by Narendra Kumar Kashyap in Rajya Sabha, Defence Minister Arun Jaitley informed that the highest number of ceasefire violations, 347 were reported in 2013, followed by 114 in 2012 and 62 in 2011.He according to CNS said that during last 10 years (2004-2013), 27 soldiers have been killed in various incidents only along LoC. “Government is fully seized of the safety of the Indian soldiers and requisite measures are taken for their safety as per the threat envisaged,” he said.
The Defence Minister of India informed the Rajya Sabha that all ceasefire violations are taken up with the concerned authorities of Pakistan at the appropriate level through the established mechanism of hotlines, flag meetings as well as weekly talks between the Director Generals of Military Operations.“In the bilateral talks held on 27th May, 2014 during the visit of the Prime Minister of Pakistan to India, our Prime Minister emphasized the importance of maintaining peace and tranquility at the borders and upholding the sanctity of the Line of Control.
