People’s Democratic Party Assembly candidate for Sonawari constituency Yasir Reshi Monday allegedly manhandled and abused Jammu and Kashmir Bank Branch Manager Sumbal. Eyewitnesses told CNS that a local had gone to JK Bank branch Sumbal in North Kashmir’s Bandipora District to clear one of his overdraft, however, he was reportedly asked by Manager to wait till all the formalities get completed.
The local according to eyewitnesses after waiting for more than half an hour, lost his state of mind and started brawl with the Branch Manager Abdul Samad. “The customer called local PDP leader Yasir Reshi who after arriving in the Bank, not only abused me but also tried to hit me,” Bank Manager told CNS adding that he has brought the matter into the notice of Bank authorities and waiting for their signal. “I will definitely file a case agaisnt the PDP leader if allowed to do so by the authorities,” he added.
When contacted Yasir Reshi said that the hundreds of account holders are transferring their accounts from Sumbal branch to Safapora Branch becuae of the ‘sick behaviour’ of the said Manager. “Ask common account holders of Sumbal branch and they will tell you how he making customers to wait for hours,” Reshi said adding that he did not manhandle him but told him to change his behaviour towards the customers.Justifying the action of Reshi, Traders Federation Sumbal president Jan Muhammad told CNS that most of the traders are closing their accounts in Sumbal branch due to mis-conduct of the branch manager.Meanwhile, National Conference while terming the assault of Reshi on Bank Manager as a criminal act seek police action against him.MLA Sonawari Muhammad Akbar Lone said that PDP while being out of power and in the opposition was using illegal, arm-twisting tricks and mechanisms to harass and torment innocents.
