Vigilance Nabs Panchayat Secretary In A Bribery Case

State Vigilance Bureau today nabbed a Panchayat Secretary Tejinder Singh posted in District Fatehgarh Sahib red handed accepting bribe of Rs. 30,000 in a bribery case.Disclosing this here today, Mr. Sursh Arora, Chief Director-cum-DGP Vigilance Bureau Punjab said that Bureau has put up its best efforts to eradicate corruption amongst public servants and others in every sphere in the State. In this direction, the Vigilance Bureau team led by Inspector Ravinder Singh Vigilance Bureau Patiala caught Tejinder Singh posted at village Kotla Jattan district Fatehgarh Sahib, demanding and accepting bribe from the complainant Beant Singh ex-Sarpanch of village Kotla Jattan.

He added that the complainant approached the Bureau and alleged that Panchayat Secretary was demanding a bribe of Rs. 30,000 for conducting audit of the gram panchayat. After finding the veracity of facts the vigilance team laid a trap and the accused was nabbed red handed in the presence of two government officials as witnesses. The tainted money was recovered from his pocket. In this regard a vigilance case FIR No. 23, u/s 7, 13 (1) read with 13 (2) of Prevention of Corruption Act 1988 at Vigilance Bureau Police Station Patiala and further investigation was under progress.
