Bhartiya Janta Party has expressed dismay over Jammu and Kashmir House in New Delhi being in shambles.The BJP spokesman Khalid Jehangir in a statement issued to KNS said that it is unfortunate to note that JK House in New Delhi has been neglected by one and all. “Three blocks of this prestigious building are being managed by a handful of employees. During the past few years many employees have retired but till date vacant posts have not been filled,” he said.Jehangir said, “All the VIPs who come and stay here seem to have turned a blind eye towards the plight of the JK House. For them it is just like a transit camp.”
He said that due to shortage of employees, people visiting the JK House face immense hardships. “It is astonishing to note that the Member Parliaments from JK till date have failed to get this vital building in New Delhi renovated even once. Nor have they ever bothered to ascertain the problems faced by the people managing the JK House, ” he said, “They (MPs) just raise hollow slogans in JK but when they come to Delhi they forget about the real issues which touch the skin of a common man.”Taking a dig at former Member Parliaments of National Conference and Congress from JK, Jehangir said, “These people during the past five years got their official bungalows in New Delhi renovated on numerous occasions but they did not pay any heed towards the JK house which is a symbol of state’s glory in New Delhi.”Jehangir appealed the state government to take the notice of the difficulties faced by the visitors and the staff members and act accordingly. “The posts which are lying vacant should be filled at the earliest and the issues which visitors face need to be resolved forthwith,” he said, “Renovating JK House is the need of the hour.” (KNS)
