State Government To Cover 15170 Habitations For Supply Safe Drinking Water: Valtoha

The State Government to cover 15170 habitations for supply of 70 Liter per capita safe drinking water per day in the state in the coming two years. Disclosing this here today Mr. Virsa Singh Valtoha, Chief Parliament Secretary, Rural Water Supply and Sanitation said that 5000 habitations would be covered under safe water drinking scheme and state proposes to cover all the habitations with 70 lpcd by the end of 12th plan. The plan allocation for the water supply and sanitation has been increased by 35 percent in the annual plan 2013-14.

Valtoha said that it would be strictly ensured that the presence of uranium and heavy metals in the drinking water should not exceed than the set parameters.He said that in some of the rural areas of the state water supply schemes didn't work and the set targets have not achieved. He appealed the local leaders to bring such cases into his notice so that water supply scheme could be implemented in true spirit. He said that all the District Officers of the Department have been asked to send the status reports of the water supply schemes in 10 days.
