A delegation of Field Doctors’ Welfare Association Kashmir (FDWAK) and Society of Consultant Doctors (SCD) met Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on 04/08/2014 at Civil Secretariat. The meeting was held in a conducive atmosphere wherein CM gave the delegates a patient hearing.According to a statement issued to KNS, the meeting was also attended by Commissioner Secretary H&ME Gazzanfar Hussain. Various issues were discussed in threadbare manner which included security of medical fraternity and safeguarding hospital infrastructure. Stress was laid on making an assault on any medical staff or hospital infrastructure as non bailable offence and implemented in letter and spirit as witnessed in other parts of country. Grave issue pertaining to Pay anomaly was discussed in detail especially the risk allowance and posts PG increments. Time based caderization of Medical officers and Consultants related to their time bound promotions, Inclusion of Adhoc and Contractual (SRO-255) regularized doctors’ services for seniority and pensionary benefits, Policy to be framed to regularize NRHM Doctors, Pay disparity among allopathic and ISM doctors were taken up with the CM. He was apprised that the state has the distinction of bagging No 1 position in health sector and being awarded for the best primary healthcare among the nation which is only possible by the untiring and dedicated efforts of the medical fraternity working in field who work round the clock for patients’ interest. Keeping in view the efforts put in it is a natural phenomenon that the genuine demands of the medical fraternity be addressed upon and solved at the earliest so that the work culture improves and patient at large gets benefited. At the end CM assured that the demands will be looked into and addressed in positivity. (KNS)
