National Conference candidate from Banihal Assembly Constituency, Sajjad Shaheen on Tuesday predicted dismemberment of Peoples Democratic Party owing to clash of interest between political activists and former bureaucrats who have virtually taken over the party.“Opportunism is deep rooted in PDP and for lust of power it can stoop to any level”, Mr Shaheen said while addressing a rally at Ukhral, held to felicitate him on being nominated as National Conference candidate.According to a statement issued to KNS, Shaheen said the level of corruption unleashed by political opportunists have further firmed the resolve of National Conference to fight out against those who were betraying the trust of people. He said chosen representatives can’t treat institutions as their fiefdom, as they are accountable to the people.

Saying that respecting public aspirations has been the core of National Conference, Mr Shaheen asserted that it will leave no stone unturned to fulfil urges of the people. He said his party has a chequered record of fighting injustice and exploitation of the innocent masses and it will continue to do so in future as well.On the upcoming assembly elections, Shaheen envisioned a big win for National Conference, saying it will be comfortably placed to form the government on its own. He said the people will give a befitting reply by their strongest weapon of votes to politically redundant and opposition parties and restrict their numbers to just one digit.Shaheen exhorted the workers to gear up for the elections in a big way and reach out the masses in remote and far off areas. He said people are real source of power and their involvement in decision making is imperative of inclusive development and overall growth in the state. He expressed his gratitude to the party high command for reposing trust in him and said he will endeavour hard to come up to their and the people’s expectations. (KNS)
