A court here sent two women involved in the infamous Kochi blackmailing case and charged with abetting the suicide of one of their victims to 14 days judicial custody. The two women - Bindhya and Rukhsana - were out on bail since last month after being arrested for blackmail along with four other male accomplices. The modus operandi was for these men to befriend high profile businessmen and get them caught in compromising position with these two women. But last week, with the arrest of the gang's kingpin Jayachandran, investigations revealed that a local businessman, Ravindran, took his life after he became a victim of the gang.

Following this, police asked the two women to surrender for questioning and late Saturday night they surrendered in Kochi.Since Ravindran committed suicide in the capital district, police here took custody of the two women and following interrogation, they were produced before the court, which sent them to jail.Additional Director General of Police K.Padmakumar is overseeing the probe in the case as the media is taking a keen interest in this case following the two women complaining to the State Human Rights Commission that they were pressurised by police in custody last month to name leading politicians and tortured on refusing to do so.
