National Conference has expressed sorrow and anguish over Israel’s continued aggression in Gaza and has termed it as a pre-planned genocide to potentially eliminate thousands of innocent men, women and children.According to a statement issued to KNS, senior National Conference Leader Sheikh Nazir Ahmed (Advocate) has said that Israel’s relentless campaign of terror against innocent Muslims in Palestine was not only a blot on the conscience of Israel but also an indictment of the International Community for being silent spectators to this bloodshed. Sheikh Nazir said that Israel’s stated position on its assumed sovereignty in Palestine lacked legality and the expansion of Israel’s territory over the decades was a clear sign of Israel’s colonial and aggressive designs under the diplomatic patronage of not only the United States but also the European States who have maintained a criminal silence over this genocide. “Israel’s existence is a derivative of oppression, illegal occupation and institutionalized vandalism and plunder. In the recent past Israel even went to the extent of uprooting hundreds and thousands of Olive Trees of the occupied lands to economically persecute the innocent Muslims of Palestine. The wall of neo-apartheid constructed to cage Palestinians and suffocate them has become a hallmark symbol of what Israel has come to stand for”, Sheikh Nazir said.
Sheikh Nazir said that innocent men, women, young children and infants are being mowed down in Palestine every passing hour as the Muslim World watches from a safe political distance. “Hearts of Muslims in Kashmir are bleeding. Nobody should point a finger at why Kashmiris are enraged, anguished and angry over what is happening in Gaza. We feel the pain of our brothers and sisters in Gaza and will never cease our political and moral support to the oppressed people of Palestine. While the Muslim World might see political merits in maintaining a tactical silence, Kashmiris have never and will never surrender their conscience and morality and will keep raising their voice for Palestine”, Sheikh Nazir Ahmed said.
The Veteran NC Leader said that Palestine had been shrunk into a strip of caged land and transformed from a Free State into a wired and barricaded ghetto by the Israeli forces. “The extent of the territorial aggression of Israel is evident when one compares how Palestine has been shrunk into a strip of land since 1947. “Fact is that Israel wants to maintain a security and prolonged control of the territories west of the Jordan River and has time and again invented excuses to unleash hell on the people of Palestine. This aggression is neither about Hamas, nor about rockets but about Israel’s permanent and illegal control over Palestinian lands and Palestinian lives. In 1948, Israel killed thousands of innocents, and terrorized and displaced hundreds of thousands more, in the name of creating a Jewish-majority state in a land that was then sixty-five per cent Arab. In 1967, it displaced hundreds of thousands of Palestinians again, occupying territory that it still illegally controls till this date”, Sheikh Nazir said.
Lashing out at United States’ unconditional political and moral support to Israel, Sheikh Nazir Ahmed has questioned the morality and conscience of the Western leaders in allowing even unborn babies to be shot dead in the womb. “The American support to Israel is surreal and unfortunately consistent with American policy of appeasing Israel in spite of Israel’s war-crimes and genocide in Palestine. This patronage defies not only an inherent value-system of humanity that should govern all disputes in the world but also tears covenants of International Law to shreds. One fails to understand how the United States can claim the moral high-ground about fighting for democracy all over the world while openly and unambiguously endorsing Israel’s war-crimes and suppression in Palestine”, Sheikh Nazir said while appealing to the rulers of the Middle East to stand up and be counted at a time when their innocent brothers and sisters are being killed and minced in Gaza.
