Civil Surgeon S.A.S. Nagar Dr.Usha Bansal said thet the health department is fully prepared to tackle any emergent situation Regarding Swine Flu. She said Swine Flu scare is prevalent throughout the country. From last few days, suspected cases have been reported in tricity, Swine flu spreads through a virus and is a kind of influenza. The symptoms are same as that of seasonal flu which is very common. These include cough, cold, headache, nausea and vomiting, chest congestion and high grade fever. Swine flu can be treated completely and the complications occur only in case of self medication and late reporting of cases by the sick to health institutions. Dr. Bansal said all the medicines used for treating it are freely available in all govt. hospitals. There is no shortage of any kind of any medicine. The precautions that need to be taken are staying away from crowded places & sick people, covering of mouth and nose while coughing and sneezing, no self medication, frequent hand washing and immediate reporting to health institutions in case of high fever along with flu related symptoms. A person who is positive for H1N1 virus should be completely quarantined at home to avoid further spread of the virus. For test of Swine Flu blood collection center Civil hospital phase 6. Civil Surgeon said as per Govt Of India guidelines, these is absolutely no need to give prophylactic treatment to neighbors and family members as the virus is in the atmosphere but still it is being done as a precautionary measure. The health department is fully prepared to tackle any emergent situation. All the guidelines have been circulated again to all private hospitals of Ajitgarh (Mohali). The medicine used for treating H1N1 cases have been distributed to all Government/Private hospitals. VTM ( Viral Transfer media) for taking samples of suspected patients is also available in Civil Hospital Phase 6 . Dr. Bansal said there is already a RRT in the District which takes care of emergency situation like Swine Flu. A nodal officer has also been appointed for H1N1( Dr Seema Aggarwal, 9501022020) and Isolation wards have been made in all the govt, hospitals of Ajitgarh. The vaccine doses for health personnel are also expected to arrive soon.
