Punjab To Establish 1073 More Edusat Computer Labs : Maluka

To provide quality education to the students especially in the remote areas, the Punjab government has established 2077 Edusat Computer Labs to enhance teaching and learning process in the government schools in the state.Disclosing this here today Education Minister Punjab Mr. Sikander Singh Maluka said that 1073 more Edusat Computer Labs would be established in the remaining schools. Minister further said that 1016 Edusat classrooms have already been established with 516 Satellite Interaction Terminals (SITs) and 500 Receive Only Terminal (ROTs) in various government secondary schools in the state.The minister also disclosed that 2807 more ROTs would be provided in government schools in the next phase. As many as 2600 ROTS started functioning and senior secondary and high schools would be covered under this network. He also said a special program of career councilling/health program would also be conducted every week on Saturday. New program‘meet a scientist’ has also been started by the Edusat in which Scientist from Indian Institute of Science Education & Research (IISER) interacted with the students studying in government schools through this Edusat system.

Minister also said that various incentive programs would also be started like tele-teaching to create awareness and interest toward the science subjects amongst the students of govt schools. IISER suggested that a Laboratory under Punjab Edusat could be set up where the Student could do experiments at their own level.Expressing satisfaction over the EDUSAT system providing tele-teaching in these government schools, the Education Minister said the Punjab EDUSAT Society had provided free coaching tele services to the 10+2 students of medical and non-medical streams for competitive examination who were unable to pay unaffordable fees of private coaching centers.He also said that above 13000 students of 10+2 participated in the crash course and result was 82% in government and aided schools in the state. Whereas the result of private schools was 70%. Program of regular course for the students of class 8th to 12th have also been telecast daily in the schools. He further said that 100 episode had already prepared under soft skill programme for the student of 9th and above classes through this Edusat program.
