The Punjab Government has decided to impart training to all the newly elected Sarpanches, Panchs and Zila Parishad/Block Samiti members for enabling them to use technology for the day to day functioning. Disclosing this here today Mr. Surjit Singh Rakhra, Rural Development and Panchayat, Punjab said that the training would cover all the aspects like functioning of e-Panchayats, Online management of accounts, proper utilization of man and machinery and usage of development schemes. Mr. Rakhra said that the training would also be beneficial for the newly elected representative as it would apprise them about their rights and duties. He said that the main motive of the training is to make these elected representatives more technology friendly.

The Minister further said that the schedule of training sessions would be released very soon. He said that training to the Sarpanches and Panchs would be imparted at the block level where as training to Zila Parishad and Block Samiti members would be imparted at District or State level. He said that the Punjab Government has envisaged the total facelift of villages which have been inhabited by more than 60% population of the state.pulging the priority list in this direction he said that the construction of link and street roads, supply of potable water and sewerage facility to the 100% population, installation of street lights etc the Minister said that these elected representative would be strengthened so that they may implement these development schemes without any hurdle and Punjab Government would delegate all support and power to these elected bodies.
