Badal Visits Tata Cancer Hospital & Research Centre

Punjab Chief Minister  Parkash Singh Badal today called on the Director, Tata Cancer Hospital & Research Centre Dr.Rajinder Badve and his team urging them to set state-of-the-art Super Specialty Cancer Hospital & Research Centre in Punjab to provide the best possible cure and diagnostic facilities to the patients inflicted with cancer in the state. 

Taking part in the deliberations, Mr. Badal assured the Dr. Badve and his team of full cooperation and support to establish the prestigious cancer hospital in the state as the government was committed to curb the growing menace of cancer.  Showing concern over the growing incidence of cancer especially in the Malwa belt, Mr. Badal said that few path breaking steps had been taken in this direction but still lot was to be done. He invited Dr. Badve and his team to visit Punjab at the earliest so that this proposal could be put on the ground after detailed parlays with the state health department. Mr. also sought their cooperation to further intensify their efforts to curb the deadly menace of cancer effectively and efficaciously.

Mr. Badal reiterated his firm commitment to provide the best medical care and diagnostic facilities to the people within their reach. He informed Dr.Badve that the State Govt. had already established a corpus fund Rs. 20 crore during the last fiscal to provide free treatment to the poor patients suffering from Cancer besides spending enormous amount of Rs. 340 crore for  setting up a network of district hospitals, community and primaryhealth centres equipped with the best medical infrastructure.

Mr. Badal was accompanied by his Special Principal Secretary  Gaggandip Singh Brar.
