Badal Gives Nod For Sewerage System Under NBA In 142 Villages At A Cost Of Rs. 1215 Crore

Giving nod to the proposal of Water Supply and Sanitation Department for sewerage system in rural areas, the Punjab Chief Minister Mr. Parkash Singh Badal today okayed 142 villages to be covered under GoI’s ‘Nirmal Bharat Abhiyan (NBA). Disclosing this here today, a spokesperson of the Chief Minister’s Office said that Rs. 1215 crore would be spent on this scheme, which would benefit nearly 10.56 lac people of living in these villages having population of more than 5000. It may be recalled that as per guidelines of flexi funds under the NBA scheme, 75% grant is contributed by the GoI and remaining 25% by the state government. Therefore, of Rs. 1215 crore, nearly Rs. 300 crore would be given by the state government for laying sewerage in these villages.
