A meeting of prominent Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) workers was on Saturday held at Pulwama. The meeting was aimed at developing a strategy for the forthcoming assembly elections in the state.According to a statement issued to KNS, among others, the meeting was participated by Zaffar Iqbal Manhas, Chief Election Co-coordinator, Kashmir; Mohammad Khalil Bandh, MLA; Dr Haseeb A Drabu, candidate for Rajpora constituency and member manifesto committee; Mushtaq Ahmad Shah, MLA Tral; Bari Andrabi, district president Pulwama; Waheed-Ur-Rehman Parra, party’s youth wing president and Mohammad Lateef Bhat, vice president district Pulwama.Speaking on the occasion Zaffar Iqbal Manhas exhorted the party cadres to work in unison and strengthen the party at the gross root levels and make everyone aware about its pro-people policies. Calling for a decisive mandate for the party, Manhas said the PDP, with the help of people, could write a new chapter in history of Jammu & Kashmir, which will enable the party to change the governance, political discourse in the state.
Dr Haseeb A Drabu dwelled in detail upon the necessity of changing the governance and policy making pattern which is in vogue in which the elected representative does not have the requisite say. He stressed upon the need for developing the governance and a policy making pattern in such a fashion in which the elected representative will have a larger say with commensurate accountability.Speaking on the occasion Mohammad Khalil Bhand, said the party patron, Mufti Mohammed Sayeed, is well aware of the problems of the general public. He said the people have whole lot of expectations with the PDP and its leadership. He assured the participants that if given a clear mandate, the party will come up to the expectations of every section of the society.
Bari Andrabi, while laying out agenda points for the meeting, stressed upon the workers to gear up for the elections and ensure the victory of the nominated candidates of the party. He also emphasized on the desirability of designing a coordinated election campaign for the district regarding which the finer details were also discussed. Waheed-ur-Rahman Parra, while speaking in the meeting, said that the manifesto of PDP must cater to the requirements and aspirations of the youth who form the strength for any political endeavor.
