The Punjab Government has today signed MOU (Memorandum of Understanding) with the Government of India to establish an international level centre for disability sports at Dyalpura, in the Municipal limit of Zirakpur. Awanish Kumar Awasthi, IAS, Joint Secretary, Ministry of Social Justice & Empowerment, GoI and Mr. Parvinder Singh Sarao, Executive Officer, Municipal Council Zirakpur exchanged the files in the presence of Mr. N.K. Sharma, Chief Parliamentary Secretary (CPS), Industry & Commerce and Investment Promotion, Punjab and Dr. Dharmendra Kumar, Director, IPH, Government of India.

pulging the other details, Mr. N.K. Sharma, CPS said that this MoU was signed to provide 10 acres of land in Village Dyalpura for establishing an international level centre for disability sports at an approximate cost of more than 100 crores. He said that this was a result of the meeting of Hon’ble Mr. Prakash Singh Badal, Chief Minister, Punjab, who in the meeting with Mr. Thavar Chand Gehlot, Union Minister for Social Justice & Empowerment offered to establish the centre at Zirakpur. He said that this centre would be the first centre of its kind in India and would be fourth such centre in the world after Korea, China & Brazil.
