Police Monday said that it has identified at least 18 youth responsible for attacking police station Nowhata as well as assaulting a policeman and torching his two wheeler in old Srinagar city.“More than a hundred youth cornered police station Nowhata in old Srinagar city two days back. These youth attacked station with stones, assaulted cops and even tried to torch the police station. We have identified at least 15 those youth who were guiding these stone-pelters. We took help of CCTV footage and monitored the events of attack minutely,” SP city North Tahir Saleem told CNS adding that in coming days all the identified 15 youth will be detained and booked under law.Saleem said that police has already registered an FIR vide number 69/2014 under section 307,147,148, 149,336,427,435 of RPC in this regard.

e further said that three youth have been identified who set the scooty of a cop on fire and beat him mercilessly. “Muhammd Amin Shiekh posted at Lal Bazar police Station was thrashed by stone-pelters at Nowhatta after checking his identity card. These ‘assailants’ also set his scooty (DL35-0212) on fire,” he said adding that police has identied the trio responsible for the action and have registered an FIR vide number 71/2014 under section 307, 147, 148, 149, 336, 427 of RPC in this regard.SP city North Tahir Saleem told CNS that a few days before some threatening posters allegedly belonging to Hizbul Mujhadeen appeared in some parts of old city. He said that police is trying to nab those involved in pasting those posters, however, it has not go so much success till date. He said that in Noth city police is all set to arrest 18 ‘wanted’ stone-pelters. (CNS)
