The Committee on Public Undertakings headed by MLA Inderwal G.M Saroori today visited Doda and reviewed the physical and financial achievements of various ongoing Rural Electrification works under the centrally sponsored, Rajiv Gandhi Grameen Vidhyutikaran Yojana (RGGVY).MLA Bhaderwah Mohd Sharief Niaz, MLA Kathua Charanjit Singh, MLC Naresh Gupta, MLC Sham Lal Bhagat, District Development Commissioner Doda, Mubarak Singh, SSP Doda M.S Chouhan, MD JKSPDC, Superintending Engineer’s PWD, PHE, PDD, District Officers among others were present in the meeting.

While reviewing the pace of ongoing works of Rural Electricity infrastructure and household electrification for the attainment of National common minimum program goal of providing access to electricity to all households, Mr. Saroori stressed upon the officers for timely and expediently completion of works undertaken under RGGVY.The Committee expressed concern over the non-replacement of large number of damaged transformers installed under the RGGVY in the Block Assar, Marmat, Bhalessa, Thathri, Bhaderwah, Ghat and Gundna of District Doda. It was revealed that the transformers got damaged due to excessive load on the transformers than their load carrying capacity. It was apprised to the house that out of 171 Rural Electrification works undertaken in the District, 169 stands completed while the remaining two works are still going on. The Committee also stressed on the coordination of electrical department with various departments especially with forest and revenue department to ensure timely clearance of the projects undertaken under RGGVY.Further the Committee asked the department concerned to complete the tendering process before application of Model Code of Conduct so that works could be carried out even during the period of Assembly Elections. The Committee was in consensus over prioritizing the villages to be covered under RGGVY Phase 2nd, selecting those deserving villages first, after proper verification, which are not covered under RGGVY scheme till date.Later the Committee also reviewed the District Plan Performance 2013-14, of various centrally sponsored schemes, State sponsored schemes, NABARD projects, CRF etc.

Land Compensation under the PMGSY was the issue highlighted by the committee and in this context the chairman directed ACR Doda, SDM Bhaderwah and SDM Gandoh to complete the final award in all the acquired land cases under the project within shortest possible time so that the stalled developmental projects due to non-payment of land compensation are carried out expeditiously.Earlier, in his welcome address, DDC Doda Mr. Mubarak Singh gave a detailed account of various completed and ongoing developmental works in the District.
