CM Announces Remission For Prisoners On Baisakhi

The Punjab Chief Minister  Parkash Singh Badal today announced to grant remission of sentence from one year to two months on April 13, 2012 the auspicious occasion of "Baisakhi" to the inmates who have been convicted by the criminal courts in the state. 

Disclosing this here today a spokesperson of the Chief Minister’s Office said that the remission of one year would be granted to the prisoners who had been awarded imprisonment from 10 to 20 years.  Likewise remission of 9 months who had imprisoned for 7 to 10 years, 6 months in case of 5 to 7 years, 3 months to the prisoners who had been sentenced for a jail term of 3 to 5 years and 2 month to the prisoners with less than 3 years on the pious occasion of Baisakhi.    However, the remission would not be granted to a person convicted in heinous crimes.
