Irrigation Minister, Punjab Sharanjit Singh Dhillon has hailed the debut Budget of union Government. He said that the Union Budget presented by Finance Minister, Arun Jaitley for the financial year 2014-15 was growth oriented and people friendly. In a statement issued here today, Mr. Dhillon said that the Union Finance Minister has taken care of all sections of the society. He said the union budget was aimed at encouraging overall socio-economic development. He said that this Budget would navigate India to the path of economic development.Referring to new income tax exemption limit from Rs. 2,00,000 to Rs 2,50,000 and Tax exemption limit under 80C which has been raised to Rs 1.5 lakh, Mr. Dhillon expressed hope that this would help the inpidual tax payers to a major extent.
Recalling various announcements, including Rs 1,000 cr. for irrigation system, Rs 100 cr. for training of sportspersons for upcoming Asian Games, Rs 2.29 lakh cr. allocation for defense sector, establishment including one IIM for Punjab, Rs 1,000 crore for 'one rank, one pension' scheme, allocation of Rs 150 cr. to boost women's safety, Rs 3600 cr. for National Rural Drinking Water, Rs 100 crore for ‘Kisan Television’ to provide real time information on various farming and agriculture issues, Rs 10,000 cr. fund for Promotion of entrepreneurship and helping start-ups, Rs. 5000 for Increasing warehousing capacity, finance scheme for 5 lakh landless farmers through NABARD and financial layout of Rs 3600 cr. for National Rural Drinking Water etc. were worth appreciable.
