There are some hospitals in many States which cater primarily to woman patients. However, data about such facilities in the country is not maintained in the Ministry as Public health is a State subject. Public Health being a State subject, the Government of India does not have any proposal to set up such hospitals/dispensaries in the country. However, under National Health Mission (NHM), support is provided to States/UTs to strengthen their healthcare system including for setting up Maternal & Child health wings. The Health Minister was replying to a question in the Lok Sabha here today.
