Vigilance Nabs Land Mortgage Bank Manager Accepting Rs.10,000 As Bribe

The Vigilance Bureau, Punjab (VB) has today caught a Manager of Land Mortgage Bank, Ghanaur red-handed with the bribe money of Rs.10,000.Disclosing this here, an official spokesperson of the VB said that the complainant Mr. Ranjit Singh of Village Mandiana in Ghanaur Tehsil has alleged that the Tarwinder Singh Walia, Manager of Land Mortgage Bank, Ghanaur (Patiala) was demanding Rs.10,000 as illegal gratification to release second installment worth Rs.2 lacs of loan. The spokesperson said that complainant has been sanctioned loan amounting to Rs.5 lacs from Land Mortgage Bank, Ghanaur, out of which a sum of Rs.3 lacs has been released to him through cheque as first installment and the balance amount worth Rs.2 lacs was yet to be released.

Acting on the tip of complainant, a trap was laid by the team of Vigilance Bureau, Patiala headed by Inspector Randhir Singh and arrested accused Tarwinder Singh Walia red-handed, while accepting bribe of Rs.10,000 from the complainant in his office. He said that after the recovery of bribe money from his pocket, a case under section 7 and 13 (2) of Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988 was registered against the accused at Vigilance Police Station, Patiala.
