Army on Wednesday foiled an infiltration attempt near Line of Control (LoC) at Krishna Ghati sector in Poonch district of Jammu and Kashmir while as a blast took place in the area following the attempt made by intruders to sneak in.Official sources told GNS that a group of intruders in wee hours today tried to sneak into this side at Nangi Tekri area of Krishna Ghati sector in Mendhar, however, the alert soldiers of 3 Grenadier deployed along the LoC challenged them. “The intruders after being challenged opened heavy fire with automatic machine guns; the fire was retaliated ensuing a brief exchange of fire”.No loss of life reported, sources said, adding that the group of intruders returned back.
Meanwhile, a blast with a big-bang occurred near LoC at Nangi Tekri area, sources said, adding that the origin of the blast was not immediately known.The blast created panic among the residents living near the area, sources said, adding that a massive search operation has been launched to combat with the suspected intruders.Pertinently, On July 1 and 3, army troopers of 1 Mahar deployed along Line of Control (LoC) at Roshni Post near Balnoi in Mendhar foiled the infiltration attempts made twice in a week by the intruders.Based on the specific intelligence inputs about a hideout a joint operation was launched today by Rashtriya Rifles and J&K Police in Nilman Forest of Raigarh bowl in Ramban district.Meanwhile, a senior defence official in a statement issued to GNS said that during the search operation large cache of arms and ammunition which included one AK 56 Rifle with two magazines, one Rifle .303 with magazine, 57 rounds of 7.62mm SLR, Kenwood Radio transceiver, one IED circuit, two hand grenade fuses, one solar charging plate and one leather belt for carrying ammunition were recovered from the hideout.
