Canines attack Ganderbal locals, 18 injured

At least 18 persons including school children and women were injured after bitten by canines in central Kashmir’s Ganderbal district.Locals told GNS that soon this afternoon, stray dogs attacked people several localities of Ganderbal town including Dhudarhama Chowk, Tawheed Chowk, Saloora and Qamaria Chowk and injure them. “The dogs attacked school children, women and men,” locals said.Among the injured, four critically wounded were rushed to SMHS Hospital in Srinagar where they are being treated, they said.The injured persons include Ali Muhammad, Zahoor Ahmad, Fancy, Adil, Zahid Altaf. Abid, Muhammad Sadiq, Tawseef, Ashiq, Zahid and Saleema.

“Despite being chased with stones, the stray dogs continued their attacks,” a local said. The residents allege that authorities bring dogs from Srinagar and drop them in Ganderbal town.“Ganderbal is the constituency of Chief Minister but one it in no way looks like that,” a student told GNS.Meanwhile, the locals have demanded authorities to take note of the ‘grave situation’. “They have unleashed a reign of terror in the town,” they said, adding that the announcements were also made on loud speakers in the area asking the people to put their children inside homes.
