Ningli Ghat inhabitants demand rehabilitation

The inhabitants of Ningli Ghat Sopore in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district have appealed authorities to rehabilitate and provide them with relief as their houses have been damaged due to heavy windstorm.Talking to GNS, the locals said last Sunday heavy windstorm damaged dozens of houses. “The rooftops of the houses got damaged. More ever, the houses developed cracks internally. Some houses are not even worth living. The rooms have also been damaged,” they said, adding most of the residents belong to Hanji community and are living under Below Poverty Line. “The government has not done anything for us. Last Sunday, Patwari came here and took stock of the situation,” a local, Bashir Ahmad told GNS.Meanwhile, the Deputy Commissioner Baramulla, Dr. Farooq Ahmad Lone told GNS that a team of Revenue Department has been department to Ningli Ghat. “Hopefully, things would be better very soon,” he said.
