The Shiromani Akali Dal took serious note of releasing of a letter written by member of the National Commission for Minorities Mr. Ajaib Singh to the Punjab Chief Minister by the spokesman of the Congress party Mr. Sukhpal Singh Khaira and said that this shows the collusion between a constitutional body and the Congress party to defame the opponents of the Congress party.
In a statement released from the party head office here today, the SAD Secretary and Spokesman Dr. Daljit Singh Cheema said that it was ironical to see that an official letter of the member of a Constitutional body is being released by the Congress party to substantiate its political viewpoint. He said that the way his letter has been released along with the Congress party press note has proved that the member is working as a member of the minority cell of the Congress party instead of a member of the National Commission for Minorities.
Expressing serious concern over the misuse of the constitutional bodies by the Congress party for its political gains, Dr. Cheema said that it was surprising to see that the honourable member has visited the Gujarat a year after the occurrence of incident. By this time the Gujarat High Court had already set aside the decision of the department and the matter is pending in Honourable Supreme Court now. It is astonishing to see that though there was no fresh provocation, even then the member spent full two days in Gujarat knowing well that the matter is pending in the Supreme Court for decision and the interference of the Minority Commission at this juncture amounts to a contempt of the honourable Supreme Court.
Dr. Cheema also expressed surprise that the matter relates to the Punjabi farmers of the Gujarat and is between the Gujarat farmers and the state government. One fails to understand that instead of writing to the Gujarat government or to the Union government, the member is writing a letter to the Punjab Chief Minister which has no jurisdiction over the place of occurrence. This shows that the member is trying to give an issue to the Congress party against Mr. Narinder Modi and by writing to the Punjab Chief Minister, he is helping the state Congress unit to use it against SAD-BJP alliance. This is most unfortunate, undesired and condemnable action of the member of the National Commission. The SAD urged the President of India to take serious notice of the unconstitutional behaviour of member of National Commission of Minorities and take desired action as per the law.
